Does anyone have good book recommendations on reading about Osiris?

Hi @brainbody-system

I
am not sure if you are looking for a specific time period or just
general information. Here are some I found interesting and/or good.
Tthey are in no special order:

Abydos: Egypt’s First Pharaohs and the Cult of Osiris (2011) by
David O’Connor
This
is an overview and solid introduction to Abydos as cult centre of
Osiris. Knowing its religious importance in the day reading on it is a
good start towards knowing more about him.

Temple Ritual at Abydos (2018) by Rosalie David
Reprint
of a classic. The ritual scenes in Abydos are explained. Original title
was “A Guide to Religious Ritual at Abydos”. A bit pricier, but worth
its money.

Omm Sety’s Abydos (The Society for the Study of Egyptian Antiquities (Ssea) Studies, Band 3) (1983) by Dorothy Eady
This
book is a personal view on Abydos. Dorothy Eady worshipped the Netjeru
and was one of the persons that participated in the reconstruction of
the Seti I temple in Abydos. Adding for

Osiris (2005) by Bojana Mojsov
Monography on Osiris and his cult.
Cult history throughout 3000 years and its influence on later religions

The Hourly Vigil of Osiris  (2017) by Tamara Siuda
During
the Khoiak Festivities one of them is called the Night of Sleep, the
day when a complex, 24-hour temple vigil was enacted by multiple priests
and two women playing the parts of the goddesses Isis and Nephthys as a
formal re-enactment of the Osirian funeral rites.
Modern English
translation of the entire 24-hour vigil of the Osiris Mysteries liturgy,
from original Egyptian hieroglyphic texts.

Isis: Eternal Goddess of Egypt and Rome (2016) Lesley Jackson
Adding
it to the list, because it is easy to read, but more importantly
Aset/Isis being Osiris’ wife and sister is an important side to take
into account when learning about him. I consider knowing more about her
also to increase knowledge about him.

and of course the Book of the Dead (just not Budges translation).

Most of these books are in an affordable to moderately higher price range and written in a readable way.

Hope these may be of help.

Black and Gold God

It took longer than we had hoped, but Terence DuQuesne’s “Black and Gold God” is now available as a free PDF! I’m glad I was able to lend my copy to the cause of getting his long Out of Print volumes scanned in and made available. I was also able to provide “At the Court of Osiris.” Enjoy. 🙂
